Momentum is a Microsoft-powered kinetic wood sculpture made by new media design studio, VolvoxLabs. Inspired by the Microsoft logo, the sculpture is made up of 80 Ultramotion motors and 160 wooden tiles, and moves when it senses human motion. Custom LEDs light up, illuminating the walls' movement. When interacted with, it feels as though the wall is following your every move.
The video shows behind the scenes process of a fully integrated system involving motors, sensors and light, titled Momentum.
Momentum is permanently exhibited at the Microsoft Lounge in downtown LA.
